Spokesperson: PM Has Not Approved Vietnamese Electric Taxis

PHNOM PENH: Government spokesperson Pen Bona cleared up social media rumors that Vietnamese Auto company Vingroup would be investing 2,500 electric taxis in Cambodia. He confirmed that Prime Minister Hun Manet did meet with the Vingroup CEO, but that he did not agree to any investment deals.

During the meeting, the PM expressed his appreciation for Vingroup and welcomed investment and expansion of other services, noting that the Royal Government of Cambodia has also set a policy to use clean energy that contributes to the protection and preservation of the environment.

He also encouraged companies to invest in the production of components and auto parts in Cambodia for use in the car production chain in Vietnam.
